My bud
Sunday I had no energy, and I know a lot of people feel that way and I am a firm believer in taking the time to rest when you need it. But Sunday my son asked me if we could go and do something, I did not want to do anything. My plan for the day had been to snuggle into my blanket on the couch and read a book. I brushed him off a few times and then the mom guilt hit me hard.
I got up and made myself presentable enough to be in public. We started off by bringing my daughter to work and then we continued onto the city. I decided we would spend our day at The Forks Market, I loved exploring the shops and hoped that he would too.
We walked around for a couple of hours exploring and talking, checking out items and laughing. He enjoyed the gems store as much as I did and asked for a couple for in his room.
After walking around that afternoon, we went for supper just me and him and we joked and laughed the whole time. So, we ate and then we headed home, he was so excited to show his dad the gems he had gotten.
On Monday evening as we were driving him to his soccer practice he said “Mom, that was a lot of fun yesterday”, and I knew that I had done the right thing. Getting up and dressed, when I really didn’t want to was worth it because those are the things that he will remember. He will remember the day date with his mom and how much fun he had, not whatever he would have done if we hadn’t gone.
That little man has been a challenge since day 1 but I wouldn’t change a thing about him. He is so loving and caring and wears his heart on his sleeve making sure the people around him are happy, and helping those at school that need friends.
Loving Mom,
Chantal M.
